title: T is for Tempest
In this screen-printed illustration, I explore the tension between chaos and wonder, merging the innocence of a theme park with the disturbing realities of extreme weather and existential fragility. The wild dogs, guardians of a twisted carnival, embody Cerberus—an allegorical figure of liminal spaces, fierce protection, and inevitable destruction. The merry-go-round, caught in a tempest, becomes both a symbol of cyclical repetition and the fleeting nature of existence. Drawing from the illuminated manuscript tradition, I incorporate intricate details that contrast the carnivalesque with the unsettling, reflecting on the fragility of human experience within a world teetering between creation and collapse.
