People and animals watching.

Work in progress as part of the 'Warp and weft of memory', a collaboration with artist Renee' Turner. The result will be an online narrative exploring the wardrobe of Gisèle d’Ailly van Waterschoot van der Gracht, an extraordinary woman whose house in Amsterdam has become the Castrum Peregrini cultural playground, and the ways in which it reflects her life, work, and various histories through textiles and clothing. In this visual development work I explore a broad range of illustrations, based on the assumption that they maybe used at a later stage as stand alone illustrations as well as background and possible navigation pointers. The main challenge is that the site structure and content is still being conceived, so these images are more an attempt to capture the atmosphere and not necessarily adding extra information to the soon to be created text and photo narratives.

Open Waters, Closed Borders is an ongoing series of animated gifs on the current refugee crisis. Like most people, I am affected by the sad news and the mediated images. In this way I try to process this complex situation, reminiscent of timeless classical tragedies.
